ARTIFICIAL SPACES. The project, curated by Guillermo Santamarina, was selected for the Decima Muestra Internacional de la Performance at the Ex-Teresa Arte Actual Museum in Mexico City, with the theme “Life on Another Planet”. The project analyzed life in artificial spaces, environments characterized by the presence of numerous electronic devices, raising the issue of the impact of electromagnetic waves emitted by these devices on the human body. A video, created with images and sounds captured from various electronic devices, was projected in the spaces of Ex-Teresa Arte Actual while the artist (Roberta Cavallari), wearing a synthetic suit in an attempt (not scientifically proven) to protect herself from electromagnetic waves, read to the audience the content of scientific research obtained from a university researcher, probably never published. The project raises a radical question about the relationship between the body and technology: to what extent are we aware, and how far can technological development go before its pervasive effect on humans becomes irreversible?

Il progetto, curato da Guillermo Santamarina, è stato selezionato per la Decima Muestra Internacional de la Performance presso il Museo Ex-Teresa Arte Actual di Città del Messico, con il tema “La vita su un altro pianeta”. Il progetto ha analizzato la vita negli spazi artificiali, ambienti caratterizzati dalla presenza di numerosi dispositivi elettronici, ponendo la questione dell’impatto delle onde elettromagnetiche emesse da questi apparati sul corpo umano. Un video, realizzato con immagini e suoni catturati da vari dispositivi elettronici, è stato proiettato negli spazi di Ex-Teresa Arte Actual mentre l’artista (Roberta Cavallari), che indossava una tuta sintetica nel tentativo (non scientificamente provato) di proteggersi dalle onde elettromagnetiche, leggeva al pubblico il contenuto di ricerche scientifiche ottenute da un ricercatore universitario, probabilmente mai pubblicate. Il progetto solleva una domanda radicale sul rapporto tra corpo e tecnologia: fino a che punto siamo consapevoli e fino a dove può spingersi lo sviluppo tecnologico prima che il suo effetto pervasivo sull’uomo diventi irreversibile?
