BERLIN UPCOMING PLACES. In the late 1990s, Berlin was a divided city, marked by great contradictions: between construction sites, abandoned spaces, areas destroyed by World War II, and ultramodern zones. In contrast, there were forgotten and decaying places where life and the use of spaces found new forms of existence. The city is portrayed through shots taken with an analog reflex camera, alternating between enclosed and open spaces, places and Non-Places (Marc Augé), where history is erased and functionality dominates. These anonymous spaces, where even human figures merge with the landscape, reflect the identity void, waiting for a new connotation.
BERLIN UPCOMING PLACES. Negli ultimi anni Novanta, Berlino era una città divisa, segnata da grandi contraddizioni: tra cantieri, spazi abbandonati, aree distrutte dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale e zone ultramoderne. In contrasto, vi erano luoghi dimenticati e decadenti, dove la vita e l’uso degli spazi trovavano nuove forme di esistenza. La città è raccontata attraverso scatti fatti con una reflex analogica, alternando spazi chiusi e aperti, luoghi e Nonluoghi (cit. Marc Augé), in cui la storia è rimossa e la funzionalità domina. Gli spazi dell’anonimato, dove anche le figure umane si fondono con il paesaggio, riflettono il vuoto identitario, in attesa di una nuova connotazione.
