VISUALE. SGUARDO FOTOGRAFICO

The exhibition Visuale. Sguardo fotografico offers a broader reflection on the meaning of the photographic image in today’s reality. Eight young artists investigate their personal relationship with the reproducible image, a medium capable of capturing reality, transfiguring it, and transcending it to create, alongside it, an alternate reality. The artist explores beach architecture not only as an example of functional buildings but as an expression of a contemporary way of experiencing leisure spaces, influenced by the expansion of prepackaged and enclosed lifestyles, increasingly distant from nature. For the Museo Civico Ludovico Ariosto in Ferrara, the artist creates Architettura del desiderio (2008). Photography is the artist’s preferred medium of expression. By acknowledging photography’s role in reproducing reality and carrying the truth, and playing on the very meaning of the medium itself, Cavallari focuses on specific angles to create an alternate view of reality or suggest fictional realities through the investigation of places, mostly familiar and highly recognizable. The result is images in which the observer initially tends to recognize themselves, only to lose that sense upon further reflection.

La rassegna Visuale. Sguardo fotografico propone una riflessione allargata sul significato dell’immagine fotografica nella realtà odierna. Otto giovani artisti indagano il loro personale rapporto con l’immagine riproducibile, quel mezzo capace di catturare la realtà, di trasfigurararla e trascenderla fino a creare, parallelamente ad essa, una realtà altra. L’artista esplora l’architettura balneare non solo come esempio di edifici funzionali, ma come espressione di un modo contemporaneo di vivere gli spazi del divertimento, influenzato dall’espansione di lifestyle preconfezionati e recintati, sempre più distanti dalla natura. L’artista, per il Museo Civico Ludovico Ariosto di Ferrara, realizza Architettura del desiderio, 2008. La fotografia è il mezzo prediletto con il quale l’artista si esprime. Riconoscendo alla fotografia stessa il compito di riprodurre il reale e dunque il ruolo di portatrice di verità, giocando sul significato stesso del mezzo, Cavallari insiste su determinate inquadrature al fine di creare una visione altra della realtà o suggerendo realtà fittizie a partire dall’indagine di luoghi, perlopiù conosciuti e altamente riconoscibili. Il risultato è quello di immagini in cui l’osservatore tende a riconoscersi inizialmente per poi perderne il senso.
